Cynthia Erivo & Lena Waithe Back Cats: The Jellicle Ball Broadway Transfer

Two major entertainment figures, Cynthia Erivo and Lena Waithe, have joined the producing team of Cats: The Jellicle Ball as it prepares for its Broadway run at the Broadhurst Theatre, with previews starting March 18 and opening night on April 7, 2026.

Erivo, a Tony, Grammy and Emmy winner and two-time Oscar nominee, praised the immersive, ballroom-influenced reinvention of the classic musical. Waithe, an Emmy-winning creator and producer, said seeing the production changed her perspective on the show and inspired her to support its Broadway incarnation.

The production reimagines Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats within New York’s ballroom culture, blending vogueing, runway choreography, and club-style energy. It follows a successful off-Broadway engagement and features an inventive creative team and a diverse cast rooted in contemporary performance styles.
